Tkatchev (Reverse Hecht)

Technique:  Execute the downswing as if doing a backward giant. As the body swings into the 4th quarter of the circle the toes stop, the shoulders hyper extend, the gymnast throws the bar looking down at the sternum or toes and sits up to front flip, then the legs straddle as if opening the door to the bar.

Prerequisites

  • A strong giant swing that has a smooth rhythm and consistent timing.
  • An above average ability to do an uphill sit up in a quick explosive manner.
  • Giant with perfect head position (especially through bottom and on wrist change)
  • Straddle flexibility helps eliminate the chance of hitting the heels on the bar but height is a good remedy for lack of flexibility
  • SHOULDER FLEXIBILITY IS NOT A PREREQUISITE

Note: Remember a long tkatchev is a safe tkatchev!
